우리 호텔 손님들Our Hotel Guests

어느 비 오는 날, 문 앞에 쪼그리고 앉아있던 아기 고양이 한 마리. 그게 콩이와의 첫 만남이었다.One rainy day, a tiny kitten crouched at the doorstep. That was the first meeting with Kongi.

사장님이 처음 구운 멸치 구이를 내밀었을 때, 콩이의 반응은 딱 한 마디였다.When the boss served the first-ever grilled anchovy, Kongi's reaction was one word:

...그게 전부였다. 맛에 대한 평가도, 감사 인사도 없었다. 그냥 "더". 사장님의 자존심은 그날 바닥을 쳤지만, 적어도 콩이는 다 먹었으니 합격이라고 스스로를 위로했다....That was it. No food critique, no thank you. Just "more." The boss's pride hit rock bottom that day, but at least Kongi ate it all, so... passing grade.

손님이 안 오는 날이 계속되자, 콩이는 직접 나서기로 했다.When guests stopped coming, Kongi decided to take matters into their own paws.

길거리에서 호객행위를 하는 아기 고양이. 지나가던 모험가 고양이가 발걸음을 멈추고 물었다. "잠도 재워줘?" 콩이는 0.3초 만에 대답했다.A tiny kitten doing street promotion. A passing adventurer cat stopped and asked, "Got rooms too?" Kongi answered in 0.3 seconds:

그렇게 우리 호텔은 원래 식당이었는데 여관이 됐다. 콩이의 즉흥 영업 덕분에.And that's how what was originally a restaurant became an inn. All thanks to Kongi's improvised sales pitch.

호텔이 바빠지자 콩이는 인간 집사를 고용하자고 제안했다. 이유가 걸작이다.As the hotel got busier, Kongi suggested hiring a human butler. The reason was priceless:

그래서 면접 기준도 명확했다. 궁디팡팡 실력, 그네 밀기 능력, 그리고 가장 중요한 건 —So the interview criteria were clear: butt-patting skills, swing-pushing ability, and most importantly —

사장님이 "그게 전부?" 하고 물으니 콩이의 대답:When the boss asked "That's it?", Kongi replied:

...반박할 수 없었다....Couldn't argue with that.

콩이의 길거리 호객행위에 낚인 첫 번째 피해자. 아니, 손님.The first victim — er, guest — of Kongi's street promotion.

체크인하자마자 캣타워를 찾았다. 없다는 걸 알고 실망한 표정이 역대급이었다고 한다. 그래도 멸치 구이는 먹었다. 반응은 예상 밖으로 관대했다.Looked for the cat tower the moment they checked in. The disappointment upon learning there wasn't one was reportedly legendary. Still ate the grilled anchovy though. The reaction was surprisingly generous:

"더한 것"이 뭔지는 아무도 묻지 않았다. 묻고 싶지도 않았다.Nobody asked what "worse things" meant. Nobody wanted to know.

레벨 2가 될 무렵, 탐이가 갑자기 제안했다.Around Level 2, Tami suddenly proposed:

"멸치 구이 장인"이라는 호칭에 사장님은 감동받았지만, 콩이는 작게 속삭였다. "사장님, 그거 비꼬는 거예요." 진실은 아무도 모른다.The boss was touched by the title "grilled anchovy master," but Kongi whispered, "Boss, that was sarcasm." The truth remains a mystery.

탐이의 리뷰는 모 아니면 도다. 기분 좋으면:Tami's reviews are all-or-nothing. In a good mood:

중간이 없다. 별 3개짜리 리뷰를 본 사람이 없다는 소문이 있다.No middle ground. Rumor has it nobody has ever seen a 3-star review from Tami.

탐이와 함께 온 두 번째 손님. 콩이가 "숙박도 합니다!"라고 외쳤을 때, 탐이 뒤에서 졸고 있던 고양이가 느긋이였다.The second guest, who came with Tami. When Kongi shouted "We do lodging too!", the cat dozing behind Tami was Relaxed.

체크인할 때도 졸고, 방 배정받을 때도 졸고, 밥 먹을 때도 졸았다. 유일하게 깨어있던 순간은 침대 쿠션의 푹신함을 테스트할 때뿐이었다.Dozed during check-in, dozed during room assignment, dozed during meals. The only time fully awake was while testing the bed cushion's softness.

느긋이의 5성 리뷰는 업계에서 전설로 남아있다.Relaxed's 5-star review has become an industry legend:

리뷰를 쓰다가 잠든 것이다. 하지만 별 5개는 이미 눌렀으므로 유효했다. 사장님은 이 리뷰를 액자에 넣을까 진지하게 고민했다.Fell asleep while writing the review. But the 5 stars were already submitted, so it counted. The boss seriously considered framing this review.

반면 1성 리뷰도 그답다.The 1-star review is equally on-brand:

느긋이에게 수면을 방해하는 것은 사형 선고와 같다. 옆방 탐이가 캣타워에서 쿵쿵 뛰어다닌 날, 느긋이의 표정은... 형용할 수 없었다고 한다.Disturbing Relaxed's sleep is a death sentence. The day Tami was thumping around the cat tower next door, Relaxed's expression was... indescribable, they say.

느긋이는 퇴실 경향이 가장 낮은 손님이다. 이유는 간단하다 — 체크아웃하는 게 귀찮아서. 한번은 3일 연속 같은 침대에서 발견됐다. 사장님이 "저기... 추가 요금이..."라고 말하려 했지만, 콩이가 말렸다.Relaxed has the lowest checkout tendency of any guest. The reason is simple — checking out is too much effort. Once found in the same bed 3 days in a row. The boss tried to say "Um... extra charges..." but Kongi stopped them:

레벨 2에 처음 등장하는 오렌지 고양이. 체크인 30초 만에 호텔 전체 구조를 파악하고, 1분 만에 "최적 순찰 루트"를 완성했다.The orange cat who first appears at Level 2. Mapped the entire hotel layout in 30 seconds and completed the "optimal patrol route" in one minute.

문제는 이 순찰 루트가 느긋이의 침대 바로 옆을 지나간다는 것이었다. 느긋이의 불만 접수 건수가 순찰이 등장 이후 300% 증가했다는 통계가 있다. (비공식)The problem: this patrol route goes right past Relaxed's bed. Complaints from Relaxed reportedly increased 300% after Patroller arrived. (Unofficial statistic.)

순찰이는 한번 앉은 캣타워 자리를 절대 양보하지 않는다. 탐이가 먼저 올라가 있으면 아래에서 올려다보며 20분을 기다린다. 탐이는 순찰이가 기다리는 줄 모른다 — 풍경 감상 중이니까.Patroller never gives up their spot on the cat tower. If Tami got there first, Patroller stares up from below for 20 minutes. Tami doesn't even notice — too busy enjoying the view.

리뷰도 그답게 사실만 적는다.Reviews are written in true Patroller fashion — just the facts:

별점은 안 남겼다. "별점은 주관적 판단이라 부적합하다"는 이유로. 시스템이 자동으로 3점을 넣었다.Left no star rating. "Star ratings are subjective and therefore inappropriate," was the reason. The system auto-assigned 3 stars.

머리에 꽃을 꽂고 나타난 크림색 고양이. 첫인상부터 호텔의 분위기를 바꿔놨다. 느긋이까지 깨워서 같이 놀자고 했다 (거절당했지만).A cream-colored cat who showed up with a flower in their hair. Changed the hotel vibe from the moment they arrived. Even tried to wake up Relaxed to play (got rejected though).

체크인하자마자 마스코트가 물었다.Right after checking in, Mascot asked:

사장님이 "아직 없는데..."라고 말하자:When the boss said "Not yet..." the response was:

아무도 5성급이라고 한 적 없었다. 콩이가 호객할 때 "최고급"이라는 단어를 썼을 가능성은 있지만, 증거는 없다. 콩이는 "기억 안 나요"라고 했다.Nobody ever said 5-star. There's a chance Kongi used the word "premium" during promotions, but there's no evidence. Kongi said "I don't remember."

그루밍 라운지가 생기기 전까지, 마스코트의 주 활동 영역은 토크라운지였다. 혼자 있는 걸 극도로 싫어해서, 다른 손님이 토크라운지에 아무도 없으면 직접 데리러 다닌다.Before the grooming lounge was built, Mascot's main hangout was the talk lounge. Hates being alone so much that when no other guests are in the talk lounge, Mascot personally goes to fetch them.

느긋이를 깨운 적이 3번. 순찰이의 순찰을 방해한 적이 5번. 탐이의 캣타워 명상을 중단시킨 적이 2번. 모두 "같이 놀자"는 이유로.Woke up Relaxed 3 times. Interrupted Patroller's patrol 5 times. Broke Tami's cat tower meditation 2 times. All for the reason of "let's play together."

그런데도 리뷰는 항상 따뜻하다.And yet, the reviews are always warm:

다른 손님들은 "누가 친절했냐"고 의문을 제기했지만, 마스코트의 세계에서는 모두가 친절한 것이다.Other guests questioned "who was kind exactly?" but in Mascot's world, everyone is kind.

원래 꿈은 요리사였다. 멸치 구이 하나로 시작해서 호텔 사장이 된 전설의 고양이.Originally dreamed of being a chef. The legendary cat who started with one grilled anchovy and became a hotel tycoon.

첫 손님에게 멸치 구이를 내밀며 이 말을 했다. 손님은 도망갔다. 1성 리뷰를 남기고. 하지만 사장님은 좌절하지 않았다. 왜냐하면 콩이가 다 먹어줬으니까.Said this while serving grilled anchovy to the first guest. The guest fled, leaving a 1-star review. But the boss didn't give up. Because Kongi ate it all.

사실 이 호텔은 원래 식당이었다. 아무도 안 와서 문제였지 식당은 맞았다. 여관이 된 건 순전히 콩이의 즉흥 영업 때문이다. 사장님이 뒤늦게 물었다.This hotel was actually a restaurant. The problem was nobody came, but it was technically a restaurant. It became an inn purely because of Kongi's impromptu sales. The boss later asked:

콩이의 대답은 간단했다. "침대 놓으면 여관이에요." 틀린 말은 아니었다.Kongi's answer was simple: "Put beds in it and it's an inn." Technically not wrong.
